Collaboration / Annotation Feedback

During my 6 week period as a leave replacement, I used a number of tools which helped me support students. I feel that collaboration is a strength of mine, while computational thinking is certainly a weakness. Below are a few of the tools that I felt were most useful!

Padlet can be used for many different functions. You can share a picture, video, screenshot, audio and many other media. In the picture directly above, you can see all the options. Students have the ability to share with the teacher and their peers. I certainly think this gives them the ability to be creative and express themselves.

The platform here is google classroom however the documents students worked on is Google Slides. For a teacher, they have access to each students slide and can see the progress they are making. One the google slides, teachers can give feedback and the student can make changes based off of it. This same function can be done using Google Docs as well.

The two pictures above are from the website PollEverywhere. This is an easy way to get responses shared at the end of the class. Rather than do an exit ticket where the response is only sent to me(the teacher), this platform allows the class to see what other students were thinking/feeling about the lesson. Additionally, I felt some students were more apt to share their thoughts using this tool rather than sharing it out loud with the class.

Hey Tom! I think it’s really great that you were able to get some valuable exposure to a lot of classroom tools during your time in your leave replacement. This gives you a good taste of what teachers use on an everyday basis without the feeling of too much stress accompanied with it I think… I love google slides and google classrooms. They are so useful in my classroom. It is so nice to forget about the days of saving things on one computer and then not being able to access them elsewhere, or remember when we even had to carry around those stupid little flash drives? (lol) It seems like you definitely know your way around google slides and…
