CT Learning Feedback

Over the past couple weeks, my classmates and I have worked on creating sixteen CT (Computational Thinking) Learning activities. Among the sixteen, they were broken down into four categories. The four included Decomposition, Algorithmic Thinking, Abstraction and Pattern Recognition. Within these categories we needed to produce two plugged and two unplugged activities.

Prior to completion, we were placed into small groups and asked to share our activities amongst each other with the goal of improving and refining our activities. My group included Brooke, Monique and myself. During our class time, we decided for each of us to go through our activities as a group and discuss the positives and areas where we can improve or clarify the activity. For me, I did not do a good enough job clarifying the rationale or learning objectives for a few activities. My goal was to adjust these activities after class and make sure they include the necessary pieces. Additionally, I really appreciated the positive feedback I received from Brooke and Monique. It gave me a sense of success hearing that my activities could be an effective way to teach computational thinking.

Reading through Brooke and Monique’s activities was a rewarding process and hearing them describe their rationale behind creating it was a great experience. I was able to learn a lot from why they create activities and was able to pick up more activities that I can use. Our discussion was always supportive and focused on how we can work together to produce the best activity for our students. Our collaboration helped me improve my activities and thought process in creating them and I would recommend any other teachers to collaborate with their coworkers. Perhaps they could even use reddit or twitter?? Not sure how? Take a look at a couple of my last few posts for further details. Thanks for reading!
